It helps to say which device you’re on and what you typed, if it’s about quick entry.
Using remnml
What can I type in quick entry?
Write the reminder in plain words, then add any of these anywhere in the line:
- A date or time: “tomorrow 5pm”, “fri”, “next mon”, “nov 12”, “tonight”, “at 9:30am”
- A list: “#Groceries”
- Priority: “!”, “!!” or “!!!”
- A repeat: “every day”, “every week”, “every 2 weeks”, “every mon and thu”
- A deferral, to keep it out of Today until then: “defer mon”
- A location alert: “@Home”, or “leaving @Work”
- A note: anything after “//”
The line above the field shows how it was understood before you save. Anything it didn’t recognize stays in the title.
Where does a new reminder go if I don’t give it a list?
Into the list you’re looking at. From Today, Upcoming, Priority or All, it goes into the default list you choose in remnml’s settings, or Reminders’ own default list if you haven’t chosen one. Added from Today without a date, it’s due today.
How do location alerts work?
Save a place first, under Places in remnml’s settings, by searching for its address. Then type “@” and its name in a reminder, or choose it in the reminder’s details. Apple’s Reminders delivers the alert when you arrive, or when you leave if you typed “leaving”. Your saved places sync to your other devices through iCloud.
What does “defer” mean?
A deferred reminder has a start date in the future. It stays out of Today and All until that day, and waits in Upcoming under its start date. On the day, it shows up in Today.
Why don’t I see flags, tags, subtasks or sections?
Apple doesn’t let other apps read or change those parts of a reminder, so remnml can’t show them. They’re still there in Apple’s Reminders app, and remnml leaves them alone. For the same reason, remnml doesn’t show Apple’s smart lists or list colors, and lists appear in alphabetical order.
How do I add the widgets or the Control Center button?
On iPhone and iPad, touch and hold the Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and choose remnml. For the button, open Control Center, tap +, then Add a Control, and choose New Reminder. You can also put it on the Lock Screen.
On the Mac, Control-click the desktop and choose Edit Widgets.
How do I open quick entry on the Mac?
Press ⌃⌥Space from any app. You can change the shortcut, or turn off the menu bar window, in remnml’s settings.
Access to Reminders
remnml says it can’t see my reminders.
remnml needs full access to Reminders. On iPhone and iPad, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Reminders and choose Full Access for remnml. On the Mac, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Reminders and turn on remnml.
A reminder I added isn’t on my other devices yet.
remnml saves straight to Apple’s Reminders, which syncs through iCloud. Check that Reminders is turned on for iCloud on each device (Settings → your name → iCloud). Syncing usually takes a few seconds, and a little longer on a slow connection.
Subscription
What can I do without a subscription?
You can see all your reminders and lists and check reminders off. remnml Yearly unlocks adding, editing and organizing reminders, quick entry, the share sheet and Siri actions, on all your devices.
How does the free trial work?
remnml Yearly starts with two weeks free. If you don’t cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it becomes a $4.99 yearly subscription (or the same in your currency), charged to your Apple Account.
I subscribed on another device. How do I unlock this one?
Make sure you’re signed in to the App Store with the same Apple Account. Then open the subscribe screen in remnml and tap Restore Purchases.
How do I cancel or ask for a refund?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. To cancel, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions on iPhone or iPad, or the App Store → your account → Subscriptions on the Mac. You can also cancel from the subscribe screen in remnml. To ask for a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com.
