Privacy policy

remnml collects no data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Your reminders stay in Apple Reminders, on your devices and in your iCloud account.

This policy covers the remnml app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, including its widgets, share extension and shortcuts, and this website. remnml is made by Jim Mitchell (“I”, “me”).

Your reminders

remnml asks for permission to use Reminders, through Apple’s Reminders framework (EventKit), so it can show, add, change and complete your reminders and lists. They are read and written on your device. remnml doesn’t copy them anywhere else and has no server to send them to.

Your reminders are stored by Apple’s Reminders, and if you use iCloud, they sync to your other devices through your iCloud account. That is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

You can turn off remnml’s access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Reminders on iPhone and iPad, or System Settings → Privacy & Security → Reminders on the Mac.

Saved places

For location alerts, you can save places such as Home or Work. Each place’s name, address and coordinates are kept in your iCloud account (in iCloud key-value storage), so they appear on your other devices. I can’t see them.

When you search for an address to save, what you type is sent to Apple Maps to find matching places. That search is handled by Apple and covered by Apple’s Maps privacy notice. remnml doesn’t ask for your current location.

Location alerts themselves are part of the reminder and are delivered by Apple’s Reminders, like any reminder with a location.

Widgets, shortcuts and the share sheet

The widgets, Siri and Shortcuts actions and the share extension read and write the same Reminders data on your device. A small amount of app state, like your settings, your saved places and whether your subscription is active, is shared between the app and its widgets on your device.

When you share a page or a link to remnml, its title and address are saved in the new reminder and nowhere else.

Subscriptions

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. remnml learns only whether your subscription is active and when it renews. I don’t receive your name, Apple Account or payment details. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings.

This website

remnml.app has no cookies, analytics or tracking scripts, and loads nothing from other sites. The demo on the home page runs only in your browser; nothing you type in it is saved or sent. The service that hosts the site may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security and reliability.

Children

remnml doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. If remnml ever starts collecting data, the policy will say so before it happens.
